OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Elwood Area Foundation is to encourage, enhance and provide opportunities for charitable giving.  To manage and distribute the funds in a responsible manner in order to strengthen the Elwood Area Community and benefit the future generations of our community.

WHAT IS THE ELWOOD AREA FOUNDATION?

The Elwood Area Foundation was established from the sale of the Boy Scout Cabin in 1980 in the amount of $100,000.  Since that time additional money has been received through memorials, bequests, endowments and donations allowing the Foundation to grow.  The Foundation invests and administers these funds.  We then use the distributions to award grants each year to many of the humanitarian, educational and cultural organizations in the Elwood area.  The Foundation is now recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

WHAT DOES THE ELWOOD AREA FOUNDATION DO?

- Administers 30 scholarships each year
- Accepts gifts in memory or in honor
- Administers a student loan program
- Grants to Boy & Girl Scouting programs
- Grants to Youth Organizations

WHAT TYPES OF TAX DEDUCTIBLE GIFTS CAN BE MADE?

Anyone who wishes to give to the betterment of the community may make their contributions payable to the Elwood Area Foundation.  A gift which has no designated purpose will be used for charitable purposes in the community.  A designated gift will only be used as the donor directs.  Types of gifts that can be given include:
- Cash
- Publicly traded securities
- Closely held stock
- Real Estate
- Retirement assets
- U.S. savings bonds and annuities

For more information about the Elwood Area Foundation, or to make a donation, please contact Cynthia Evans at (308)785-2160.
